PDP Nat'l Convention : Ayade to conduct ward congresses Saturday 18th November

In view of her national convention billed for December 9 – 10, 2017, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will on Saturday 18th November conduct ward congresses to elect three-man ad-hoc delegates for the exercise.

This will be succeeded on Tuesday 21st by a similar exercise at local government levels to elect national delegates.

This is in respect of the Electoral Guidelines for the 2017 National Convention of the Party which directs that each Ward Chapters of the Party shall elect three Ward Ad-Hoc Delegates at a Special Ward Congress for the purpose of nominating National Delegates at the Local Government Congress for the Convention.

Accordingly, the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) of the Party has nominated selected Party members to serve on Electoral Committees and Electoral Appeal Panels for the Conduct of Ward Congresses for the three-man Ad-Hoc Delegates and Local Government Congresses for the National Delegates nationwide.

Contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Senator Abdul Ningi, also said the Electoral Appeal Panel for the three-man ad-hoc delegates will seat on Monday, November 20 while that of the local government congresses will seat on Wednesday, November 22.

With the characteristic uncertainty rocking the Cross River chapter of the PDP, as well the PDP-led administration of the state one begins to wonder how Gov Ben Ayade will go about this important exercise. For sure, the exercise must hold on Saturday, but, the question is how? Will it be a selection as usual with names forwarded or will it be an internal democratic exercise?
