Proceedings inside the chamber of the 8th Cross River State House of Assembly last week

9 May 2018
Cross River state House of Assembly on Thursday 26/4/2018 passed the CRS Records and Archives Bureau Bill, 2018 into law. After an eloquent presentation of the report of the House Committee on Information, ICT, Youth, Sports Development and Labour by Hon. Matthew Olory Samuel, Honourable members of the House made useful inputs and certain  amendments were effected. After the third reading by the clerk, it was subsequently passed into law. As the Presiding Officer, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo directed the Clerk to produce three copies for onward transmission to the Governor for his assent.

During the proceedings, the Cross River State College of Nursing Sciences Bill 2018 was read for first time before CRSHA. The Speaker directed House Committee on Business and rules to schedule it for subsequent engagement.
The House  accordingly adjourned to next week for committee work and plenary respectively at 2:05pm.

A Bill for a law to prohibit Open rearing and grazing of livestock, and provide for the establishment of Ranches and livestocks administration, regulation and control and other matters connected therewith was read the second time on the floor of Cross River State House of Assembly today.

This all important Bill is sponsored by Hon. Regina Anyogo, member representing Yala 1 state Constituency in CRSHA. The Public hearing of the Bill will hold either in Ogoja or Yala, base on the discretion of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo for the Northern Senatorial District.

The rationale for the choice of Ogoja or Yala is to listen to robust contributions from all critical stakeholders, farmers, livestock rearers, traditional rulers, Youths, Opinion leaders, Civil society organizations and other relevant groups in the area.
