DEAR WOMAN ... Being a passionate message to women in 3rd world

14 August 2019

I believe that women are equal to men in honor and respect and this to me translates to dignity. However, as an engendered specie that we are, we have to work twice as hard as the men to be given this honor and respect.

_
You see, being a citizen of a third world nation who is only remembered when aids are to be given, I have learnt that to compete faourably with the citizens from first world countries, I have to put in extra effort.

_
This knowledge is what gives me an edge as a woman living among men who have been taught to disrespect me and even more worse, living among women who have been taught to slander women who try to brake the glass walls placed around them.

_
Dear woman, you do not just sit down and expect people to respect and honor you when you do not do the things that accrue to that. Granted we have a lot of males who think less of woman but what have you done to change that narrative at least for yourself?

_
This is not about the game of equality. Even amongst men, no one is equal. Albeit in honor and respect, we're all deserving but you must work for it.

_
Dear woman, keeping your virginity is very important but that does not define you. Do not allow anyone measure your ability because of how tight or loose, sweet or unsweet your vagina is or how flabby or firm your breast is. Neither should the slenderness or fluffiness of your body determine your worth.

_
Like Nelson Mandela averred, we've gone past the stage of judging people by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. So also, walk tall knowing that it is the content of your character and not your physique that will bring you before kings.

_
Iam not asking you to do things you're not capable of to prove your worth. But identify your area of strength and be an authority. If you're the type that is "homely" good for you. And if you aren't, keep playing to the areas of your strength. Refuse to be trapped by traditions that men made over some bottles of Palm wine and dogmeat.

_
Our strengths are determined by our passions and not necessarily our gender. I am a Shoe Maker, a fashion designer, a writer, editor, speaker, counselor, painter, soon to be author etc. There are men who can't do this not merely because they wouldn't but because they're not passionate about it.

_
I repeat, your role in the society and family should not he determined solely by your gender but by your passion.

_
If there are positions at home, school, office, church and society that has been left empty because no man is available to fill it and you can, go ahead and fill those positions without asking questions. Your key to living is tied in your expression. Express yourself fully with the life you've been given.

_
Stop playing small! You're worth more!
