#RevolutionNow: Nig Police to arraign Jeremiah Archibong, Jonathan Ugbal in court today

Jeremiah Archibong and Jonathan Abang the Managing Editor and News Editor of CrossRiverWatch an online news repository in Cross River will most likely be arraigned in court Tuesday 6th August NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.

Credible sources have it that the Nigerian Police Command in Cross River State refused to release them yesterday sequel to their arrest in Calabar at the Cultural Centre venue of the #RevolutionNow protest billed for 5th August.

They were arrested along with Nicholas Kalu of the Nation Newspapers who was incidentally released yesterday after 13 hours of detention. Their alleged crimes are yet to be made public.

Meanwhile the Association of Cross River Online Journalists, ACROJ have condemned their arrest by the police and have demanded their immediate release.

In a statement signed by Darlington Edem the Chairman of ACROJ and made available to our news desk, it reads in part, 'While as media men, we have always maintained our willingness to support the police in their duties, we must be quick to add that, ACROJ will use every lawful means and vehemently resist attempts to gag the media or cage our constitutional role.

'We view this as a disgraceful attempt of the CP Agbolanhor led Cross River State Command to intimidate, harass and make mess of the media.

'ACROJ calls on the state police command to immediately release our members within the next 24 hours or be ready to meet us in court for violating the right of our members.'
