Ukpanyang inaugurates 20-man Public Works Committee in C'River... commends PMB

The Public Works Committee has been inaugurated in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.                                            
The works committee was inaugurated on Wednesday at the Federal Secretariat, Muritala Muhammed Highway, Calabar by Barrister Maria Ukpanyang, Chairman of Cross River Selection Committee, Federal Ministry of Employment, Labour and Productivity.

                               Inaugurating the 20 members Selection Committee, the chair lady charged the members to view their call to duty as a national assignment awarded by the federal government and advises them to render selfless services to their fatherland.

Her words, 'You were carefully selected based on your track records,
therefore I want to charge you today to view this called to duty as a
national calling as such you must strive to render selfless services
to your fatherland'.

Ukpanyang further explained that the committee has already been
inaugurated since June 29th 2020 by the Minister of Employments, Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo charged with the responsibility of collating beneficiaries of the poor household to reflect in all the 18 local governments of the state.

She said, 'The committee has since been inaugurated in Abuja by the
Honourable Minister of Employments, Labour and Productivity as such,
therefore, we are here today to commence work'.

She continues to explain that, the program is part of the ruling party's pet projects which are channeled specifically to the poor households irrespective of party affiliations.

According to her, she said, 'I want to say that this project is parts of the ruling party's many pets projects which are channeled specifically to target the poor households irrespective of party
affiliations, and I want to commend the APC led government and President Muhammadu Buhari for having the human heart to think about the poor at this difficult time during lock-down'.

Stressing that, the committee members were chosen to represent the
traditional rulers, the youths, CAN as well as Muslim communities.

The Vice-Chairman of the committee, Martin Bisong and the secretary,
Gabriel Udam both men commended the federal government and the
minister for their resolve to alleviate poverty and for providing job
opportunities for the teeming Nigerians.
